Easter is a time for family and friends to gather and enjoy the day together. However, it can easily turn into a day of stress if you aren’t prepared. We have composed a few tips to help you prepare for this special day so that you can remember to relax and enjoy it with your family.
Plan Ahead. Easter can be a jam-packed day. Church services, egg hunts, family and friends schedules, making the meal; the details of all the activities can be overwhelming. Create a general timeline if you plan on fitting it all in. Everyone wants to savor that special meal, so make sure you have a set time for serving that all guests are aware of.
Easter Menu. This is a big one. It’s not unknown that most people are picky about what they like to eat and what they don’t like to eat. It’s best to choose food items that you think all of your guests will enjoy, and if you really want to accommodate, have extra options for your vegetarian or special-diet friends. Remember to have kid-friendly options as well. Once you have your chosen menu, see what items can be made the night before and reheated the day of. This will not only save you some time, but it will help with the clean up.
Set Up Before. You would be surprised by how many people throw together last minute decorations and table settings. Take the time to already have this done. A few simple décor items, such as a spring wreath, a bunny centerpiece and your entire table setting can easily be put out days ahead. By setting the table up prior, it will also allow you to see if you are short on chairs or plates, and still give you time to gather anything else you may need.
Delegate Games. You don’t have to do everything by yourself. Taking on the decorating, the meal and the serving is a great deal for one person to handle. Put someone else in charge of the festivities. The Easter Egg Hunt, the entertainment for children, or any other craft or game you may want to plan for the day to entertain; let someone else cover this part. You can even create all the items for the games before and just have a friend be in charge the day of. Let yourself partake in these fun activities instead of watching from the kitchen.
